The Oxford Picture Dictionary Bilingual edition has 4000 words on 240 pages of full color pictures or illustrations grouped by topic.  For example, in the picture above you can see colors on one page and prepositions on the next, with the sweaters serving as ways to describe left, below, next to in sample sentences.  Prompts for role playing and conversation can be used in the classroom or with a tutor.

The dictionary is clearly focused on teaching English.

I was intrigued by the English File Pronunciation App which seems to use IPA to teach sounds.  You can switch between English and American pronunciation.  I just like that the IPA symbols all have pictures with them.  Learning the sounds of the IPA is on my “to do” list.
