I believe in the power of creativity.

In that spirit, I offer you a tool I discovered today.   Take something you are working on, like a blog post, and toss it all into Serendip-o-matic, and it will extract search terms and return things somewhat related.  It has a deliciously random quality.  Like wandering down the stacks in a library and discovering a book.

Unlike conventional search tools, this “serendipity engine” takes in your chosen text—such as an article, song lyrics, or a bibliography—then extracts key terms to deliver similar results from the vast online collections of the Digital Public Library of America, Europeana, and Flickr Commons.

These same folks created a tool Anthologize to turn blog pages into a published e-book. (This all started from my search for a dictionary for my blog.)

Have fun seeing where Serendip-o-matic might lead you. It just might be the wack on the side of the head that yields a new idea.
