Adopt your second language for life

Do you take a long term approach to learning a second language?

Have you committed to your second language for the rest of your life?

Have you made language learning a lifestyle?  Do you love your new language as much as your first language?

Can you imagine spending not a hundred hours of studying, but instead thousands of hours with your second language?  You spend almost every waking hour getting exposure to your native language, for perhaps 4,000 hours a year.

I am awed at the enormity of how many hours I might cozy up with Korean if I make a lifetime commitment.  This started out as just flirting a few months ago, the sidelong glance, giggling.

But perhaps I am choosing Korean to become a part of me.  Hmm.   I’m still adjusting to the idea.
