Drop the guilt

What does guilt keep you from doing? What could you accomplish if you let go of some of the things you think you “should” do that are weighing you down?

My friends recap Korean dramas. You never know when it starts if the drama will tank. Some KDramas really crash and burn. Who wants to spend more time on a drama that didn’t go the way you liked? But they started recapping and carry the guilt about not finishing all the episodes.

Kakashi’s rule: “Thou shalt not feel guilt about dropped recaps”.

Think that rule should be generalized. I give you permission to drop something that is hold you back and making you feel guilt.

Les Brown, that amazing Toastmaster and motivation speaker, tells a story about coming home as a young man with a bag of groceries and being beat up by some neighborhood kids.  His mother told him to drop the groceries and fight for himself.  See “Live Your Dreams” chapter 1 to read the story.  The point Les Brown was making with the story is this:

Many of us carry baggage from the past that hinders our ability to fight for the things we want in life, our goals, our dreams.

Let go, so that you have the energy to move forward.
