Honorifics and speech level

The relationship between a speaker, subject, and audience is paramount in Korean.

“The relationship between speaker/writer and subject is reflected in honorifics, while that between speaker/writer and audience is reflected in speech level.”

Speaker Triangle

For example, a wife speaks to uncle about her husband.  Wife is the speaker, uncle is the audience, husband is the subject.

Now, what I use most commonly is 해요.  I also learned the formal 합니다, 하세요, and banmal 해.  I am vaguely aware there are other speech levels and honorifics I have not yet learned.
