Reflect, connect, apply

How to turn games into lessons?

For play to be an effective teaching tool, students must understand the lesson being delivered and be able to relate it to their own life experiences. At the end of every game do a three-step process:

1) Reflect back on the experience of the game
2) Connect to a similar experience from their own lives
3) Explore how they can apply what they’ve learned to an area of their daily lives

Learning can be playful, but it is the process of making it your own and applying what you learn that is the real power of games.
